# Redemption Statement

**Redemption statement** is a document provided by a Certificate registry proving that a specific certificate (or a set of certificates) has been redeemed.

Once a Certificate has been redeemed in the official registry, it can **no longer be transferred to a different owner** within that particular registry.

### Example of a redemption statement

To see an example, take a look at the following Redemption statement by Protocol Labs.
